Hey Gang, it’s Elysa… I just wanted to give you an update on whats happening with the podcast as there’s been radio silence for a few weeks.

So here we are in 2021, the year we were hoping life was going to get back to normal and music would return to our arenas, grassroots venues and fields of metal and gold… but no. Not quite.

Right now as I write this, the UK is on day 43 of it’s third national lockdown.

We’re vaccinating our elderly and most vulnerable at an impressive rate and the NHS has gone from being at breaking point to ‘coping.’ There was a scary time where the numbers on the news started turning into names of people I knew as they lost their battle with Covid while others fought on. It’s been a tough time and as predicted, the second wave was worse than the first.

So that’s where the UK is at right now but what about the podcast… in the words of Four Non Blondes… Whats going on?

As you know, I published Jim Kirkpatrick’s episode on New Years Eve 2020… The quietest new year there ever was, unless you were lucky enough to be in Dubai watching Kiss in concert!

It was my full intention to publish Matt Pierce And The Mutiny’s interview straight after Jim’s and finish Season One of the pod with Matt’s lovely dulcet tones and sense of humour, but I hit a huge wall.

My flying schedule in my normal job had been full on and I’d also had exams which I have to take every year and they’re pretty stressful. I’d been doing some crazy flights due to Covid like flying to Hong Kong, not getting off the plane and flying straight back to the UK again – 30 hours on an aircraft… you’re an actual zombie by the time you get home. Then throw in Christmas, my birthday and New Year and by January I was wiped out!

So I took a break and held on to Matt’s episode. I hibernated like a bear and attempted to complete Netflix and at the end of January I got furloughed from flying.

At this time, during my hibernation, I was approached by the boss of Hot Radio (a radio station on the UK’s south coast where I already do a Saturday show) about the possibility of doing a Road To Rock radio show. This was something I’d been asked to do last summer but with just starting out in the world of podding and still getting to grips with it all I’d turned it down.

This time I didn’t say no :)

So the answer to Four Non Blondes – Whats Going On is for the past two weeks I’ve not only been working on Season Two of The Road To Rock Podcast but I’ve also been putting together some killer playlists and features for The Road To Rock Radio Show!

I’ve been scouring all the nooks and crannies of the internet for new talent and upcoming bands to play on the show and I’ve been chasing down guests and shooting emails to all corners of the globe to arrange interviews for the podcast.

So far I’ve Zoomed with a band that live together, a legendary artist that lives down the road from me and this weekend my alarm is set for 1am to chat with a band in La La land.

The radio show will be launching on air in a few weeks and Season Two of the podcast will be out around the same time. We’ll finish Season One with the lovely Matt Pierce And The Mutiny (as originally planned) and we’ll kick off season two in style.

In the meantime make sure you’re following The Road To Rock on Twitter, Facebook, Youtube and Instagram… not only will you get the latest updates on everything but also the weekly Road To Rock Top Five… What a treat!

Stick with me… Like Guns N Roses said, all we need is just a little patience :)
